After the Assessment
Once the assessment is complete, Vicky will share an overview of her observations. However, as the tests are detailed and require time to score and analyse, a diagnosis cannot be provided on the same day. Instead, you will receive an update within the following week in the form of a brief phone call or email—whichever you prefer— that states the diagnostic decision. A detailed report via email will follow within 28 days of the assessment.
The comprehensive report, delivered via password-protected email, will include:
- A full explanation of the child’s background history, observational insights, and how these relate to the assessment results recorded on the day.
- A detailed analysis of each area of attainment and the child’s cognitive profile, highlighting how these align with the definition of dyslexia.
- Up to three pages of tailored recommendations for strategies to support your child at school, at home, and in future workplace environments.
- Consideration of both current and future needs, including recommendations for exam arrangements and any necessary onward referrals.
If the evidence does not support a diagnosis of dyslexia, you will still receive a thorough report outlining areas of strength and difficulty, along with actionable strategies and potential referral options for further investigation. This report will also help schools apply for appropriate Exam Access Arrangements that can be granted without a diagnosis but with the requisite evidence. These can include extra time, a reader, or a scribe, where needed.
A dyslexia report is a confidential document, private to the individual who has been assessed. For children aged 17 or younger, the report will be shared with their parents or carers. It is then recommended that the report be shared with the child, their school, and any other relevant parties to ensure the appropriate support and accommodations can be implemented effectively.
Following the delivery of the written report, you are entitled to a complimentary 20-minute follow-up meeting or phone call to discuss its content. Please organise this with Vicky if you would like to take up this free offer. Additional support options are also available for purchase if further guidance on next steps are needed, or advice on how to best support your child at home. To book additional support, please contact Vicky.
